Grouping Radios in Radio Management

(Learning and Programming CPS Tools)

Grouping radios / codeplugs within the Radio Management Client allows you to organize similar radio types towards the goal of a more-efficient programming strategy. Filtering radios by Group is then possible. The "All" radios group removes all group filters for view / modify purposes.

Available groups are seen in the top-left corner of the Radio Management Client Window.

Adding a New Group:

In the top-left corner of the Radio Management Client Window, from three Views:

Right-click within the "Group" list, then from the popup menu select "Add Group".

Alternately, you can add a new Group by clicking the Actions Button, then from the Actions Menu select "Group è Add".

A new group with a default name is added to the "Group" list. Rename the group appropriately (see below).
There is no limit on the number of groups that are possible.

Associating Radios With a Group:

In the top-left corner of the Radio Management Client Window, only from the Radio View:

Click in the "Group" selection of the desired radio record / row, then from the drop-down menu select the appropriate Group. A radio cannot be in more than one Group.

The selected radio is added to the Group.

A newly-added radio is added to the currently-selected group (see Adding Radios).
There is no limit on the number radios that are possible within a group.

Selecting to View a Specific Group:

In the top-left corner of the Radio Management Client Window, only from the Radio View:

To view only the radios assigned within a certain group, click on the desired Group.

Selecting "All" allows you to see every radio within the RM Server's database.

Renaming a Group:

In the top-left corner of the Radio Management Client Window, from three Views:

Right-click on the desired Group name within the "Group" list, then from the popup menu select "Rename", and then type in the desired new name.

Alternately, you can rename a group by first selecting the desired Group, then click the Actions Button, then from the Actions Menu select "Group è Rename", and then type in the new name. The "All" radios group supplied by Radio Management cannot be renamed.

The new Group name is applied to all radios currently associated with the Group.

Deleting a Group:

In the top left corner of the Radio Management Client Window, from three Views:

Right-click on the desired Group, then from the popup menu select "Delete Group". A Group must be empty (contain no radios) before it can be deleted.

The selected Group is removed from the "Group" list.
